The Espoo Ciné Award is presented annually to those who promote Finnish film culture towards a diverse European perspective. This year the award goes to film director Teemu Nikki.
According to the jury, composed of members of the festival board, Teemu Nikki has contributed to diversifying Finnish cinema. His stories about Finnishness are highly recognizable, yet they also transcend national borders and resonate with international audiences.
The Espoo Ciné Award and Teemu Nikki will be celebrated at Kino Tapiola on Wednesday, August 27 at 3 PM in a screening featuring 100 Litres of Gold along with Nikki’s earlier short films A Mate and Fantasy.
After the screening, Nikki will be interviewed on the Kino Tapiola terrace by Otto Suuronen, cultural export coordinator at the Finnish Film Foundation.
