Paul Wilson wins the Poster Ciné award

The Poster Ciné film poster competition was won this year by Paul Wilson for his poster for Sebastian. The Poster Ciné Award was presented yesterday along with the Finnish gala film screening.

The winner was chosen by artist Anssi Kasitonni, who praised the classical atmosphere conveyed by Wilson’s poster: it evokes the style of the 1960s. Skin tones in the foreground are paired with scribbled typography. The chemistry between the characters in Wilson’s poster allows viewers to form many interpretations about the film’s content.

Since Paul Wilson was unable to attend the award was accepted on his behalf by producer Anniina Leppänen from Helsinki-filmi. Leppänen also read out Wilson’s message of thanks.

The Audience Award went to Hermanni Suppanen for his poster for the documentary Havumetsän lapset. The Poster Ciné audience favorite could be voted for via an online form, on social media, or by ballot in the lobby of Espoo Cultural Centre.

Congratulations to the winners!
