Espoo Ciné, in year-round collaboration with Kino Tapiola, presents the festival’s unrealized loves and lingering sparks – films that could have been screened at the festival but, for one reason or another, weren’t. Expect a monthly dose of new European cinema and subtly burning emotional intensity!
On Thursday, 9 October at 5:15 PM, the Espoo Ciné Recommends screening will feature Joachim Trier’s latest film Sentimental Value. Get your tickets here >>>
Sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) reunite with their father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), a charismatic film director who has remained emotionally distant from his children. Gustav offers Nora, who works as a theater actress, a role in a film he hopes will revive her career. When Nora declines, she learns that the role has been given to a young and eager Hollywood star (Elle Fanning). As the American actress becomes entangled in their complex family dynamics, the sisters are forced to confront their painful relationship with their father.
From the director who charmed audiences with The Worst Person in the World, Sentimental Value won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and has been selected as Norway’s Oscar entry.
