Junior Ciné 10 years: Do We Value Children’s Cinema?

Tiistai 25.8. 15.00 | Kino Tapiola terrace

Espoo Ciné’s festival for children and young people, Junior Ciné, is already celebrating its 10th anniversary, while an increasingly fragmented audiovisual culture makes film education more important than ever. But do we value children’s cinema? Does it receive sufficient resources and recognition? Is it given the attention it deserves as part of film culture and film journalism?

Joining the discussion are film director, actor and musician Mari Rantasila, film critic Leena Virtanen, and Outi Freese, Executive Director of the Finnish Film Education Association Koulukino. The discussion will be moderated by Eija Niskanen, Chair of the Film Section of the Finnish Critics’ Association (SARV).

Welcome to listen and join the conversation — whether you work in film or education, are a film critic, or are simply a young person or parent interested in the topic!
