In November, the Espoo Ciné Recommends series presents Crossing from Levan Akin.
"In Crossing by Levan Akin, a middle-aged woman named Lia (Mzia Arabuli) from a small Georgian village sets out to find her missing transgender relative in the vibrant and sprawling city of Istanbul. She is guided by Achi (Luka Kankava), a young man who lives aimlessly in the moment. In this heartfelt, touching, and deeply impactful drama by the Swedish-Georgian director Levan Akin—best known for the stunning And Then We Danced—the story takes us beneath the glamorous surface of the metropolis, revealing the darker, marginalized lives of human fates simmering beneath a broad spectrum of sexual and gender minorities."
Crossing is screened at Kino Tapiola on Thursday, 7 Nov, at 17:15. Get your tickets from Kino Tapiola's website! The screening is introduced by Timo Kuismin, the chair of Espoo Ciné.

Espoo Ciné Recommends is Espoo Ciné’s year-round screening series in collaboration with Kino Tapiola. The series features Espoo Ciné’s unrealized loves; films that could have been part of the festival but, for one reason or another, didn't make it. The lineup promises Espoo Ciné's signature blend of new European cinema and subtly smoldering emotional intensity.
