In April's screening of Espoo Ciné Recommends series, love simmers on the stove.
The Taste of Things (previously The Pot-au-Feu) by Vietnamese-born French director Tran Anh Hung is a romantic drama set in the late 19th century, telling the story of Dodin (Benoît Magimel), a gourmet, and his esteemed cook Eugénie (Juliette Binoche). The two of them have worked together for twenty years and share a passion for good ingredients, meticulous cooking methods, and each other. However, Eugénie refuses to marry, so in order to win her over, Dodin decides to do something he's never done before: he takes up the ladle and prepares a dinner for his beloved.
In addition to warming up the hearts of romance lovers, the film indulges food enthusiasts with mouth-watering food scenes, featuring recipes crafted by Michelin-star chef Pierre Gagnaire.
The Taste of Things will be screened at Kino Tapiola on Thursday, April 4, at 17.15. Tickets are available at the Kino Tapiola box office and website.
