Laura Laaksonen was selected as Espoo Ciné's new Executive Director.
Laura Laaksonen begins working as Espoo Ciné's Executive Director on Wednesday, September 1, replacing Mia Vainikainen, who moves onto new challenges. Laaksonen comes to Espoo Ciné from Tampere Film Festival, where she worked as Executive Director. "As I was born and bred in Espoo, it brings me particular joy to come to work at Espoo's very own film festival," says Laaksonen. "I look forward to starting work at this incredible event and with this amazing group of people."
The Espoo Ciné International Film Festival of 2021 finished on Sunday, August 29. The festival, which has brought quality films from Europe to cinemas for over 30 years, has become an important showcase of modern European cinema in Finland, as well as one of the biggest film festivals in the country.
Work on the 33rd Espoo Ciné International Film Festival begins with the new Executive Director. Next year's Espoo Ciné will be arranged in the festival's familiar spot in August.
