Alexi Laiho – End of Fucking Story in Kino Tapiola between Sept 3 and 4, 2022
Espoo Ciné dedicates its night cinema Alexi Laiho – End of Fucking Story to the memory of guitar legend Alexi Laiho. The event will take place in Kino Tapiola between Sept 3 and 4, 2022.
Born in Espoo in 1979, Alexi Laiho created an impressive and internationally recognised career as a metal guitarist. Laiho was especially known as the front man of the band Children of Bodom. After the band disbanded in 2019, Alexi Laiho formed a new band called Bodom After Midnight.
Alexi Laiho died in late 2020, and due to the pandemic, his memory has not been collectively honoured. That is why Espoo Ciné wants to organise a gathering for Laiho’s fans, fellow night owls and cinephiles to honour the memory of the guitar legend who loved cinema, together. The event has been planned together with Laiho’s family and band members. It is organised in collaboration with Universal Music Finland and Musamaailma.

The night cinema shows one of Alexi Laiho's favourite films: Big Lebowski (1998), directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. A ridiculous comedy tells the story of Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski from Los Angeles, who leaves with his bowling companions to claim compensation for his tangled carpet, and so the gang drifts into absurd battles with the underworld.
In addition, YLE's video recording of the Children of Bodom gig in Ruisrock in 2014 and other archive material will be shown during the night. The night cinema will be opened by a surprise performer. The programme of the whole night will be released in August.
