How to Divorce During the War

Skyrybos karo metu

Vytas is shocked when his wife Marija announces she is bored of him and wants a divorce. As he is getting ready to leave the couples’ home, news of the Russian invasion of Ukraine reaches Lithuania. Each now attempting to build their own life, both Vytas and Marija do their best to help Ukrainians in need. Vytas scolds his Putin-sympathizing parents and joins a food bank, while Marija protests her employer’s Russian operations and invites a family of refugees to her home. As the war rages on, they realize that their altruism comes with a price. In the midst of these crises, their daughter Dovile tries to make sense of the surrounding chaos.

Andrius Blaževičius’ How to Divorce During the War was awarded the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
