France, 1978. The youngest son of the Puig family is getting married in the suburbs of Nantes. All seven siblings are present at the wedding. Their father, however, has not been invited, as he has been banished from the family. In addition to the looming presence of a violent father figure, the family and the wedding are haunted by many other difficult and unspoken issues, such as unemployment, depression, drugs, institutionalization, and the scars left by the Algerian War. This intense and emotional day of celebration gradually brings to light the family drama and sibling dynamics.

Christophe Honoré’s most personal film to date opens a time capsule to 1970s working-class France. The ensemble-cast led by Adèle Exarchopoulos carries the story firmly throughout the film. Orange-Flavoured Wedding poses the question: can love heal the wounds of childhood?
