Solo Mom

Solomamma

Edith, a journalist in her forties, has decided to become a mother through an anonymous sperm donor. The responsibility of single parenthood weighs on her, and Edith begins to doubt her own ability to handle it alone. When the donor’s identity is unexpectedly revealed, the man becomes a minor obsession for Edith. Unable to resist her curiosity, she decides to track him down. Under the guise of her work as a journalist, Edith pretends to write a story about his tech company. The consequences of their encounter are fateful, leading to chaotic twists and a growing web of lies.

Janicke Askevold’s second feature film challenges traditional notions of motherhood and family structures. Solo Mom is a thrilling, fast-paced psychological drama that explores the complex emotions surrounding single parenthood and independence.
