Stand Up

Drifting aimlessly from one party to the next, 23-year-old Vera loses what little sense of direction she had after losing her leg in an accident. When she meets Xander, who has been disabled since birth, and his circle of friends, she not only finds romance but also a sense of belonging. Before long, her old life and friendships begin to feel hollow compared with the disabled community she has discovered.

This drama from young Dutch filmmakers offers a remarkably authentic portrayal of the lives of people with disabilities in their twenties, embracing both the unique realities disability brings as well as the joy and rebellion of young adulthood. The critically acclaimed film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
