Almost 40-year-old Alf (John Holm) is still living at home with his mother, Monica (Anita Holm). She is pressuring her son to get a ”real job” and move out. Alf has no plans to do such things. Instead, he keeps pursuing his only true passion: diabolo. He intends to tour all across Europe with his act.

Loosely structured and slow-paced, Doggerland is a collection of conversations and encounters with the citizens of Norrköping, Sweden. Its intimate black-and-white cinematography gives the old industrial town a lingering presence which is felt throughout the film. The realistic yet meditative film centres on the authentic and the mundane.

The small production premiered at the Berlinale earlier this year. The director of the film, Kim Ekberg, also worked as the sole writer, producer, cinematographer, and editor.
