No Good Men

Award‑winning Iranian director Shahrbanoo Sadat’s political drama takes the viewer to Kabul in 2021, right before the Taliban’s takeover and the collapse of women’s rights. The city is unknowingly living its final days of freedom. 

Naru, a woman in her thirties and the TV station’s only female camerawoman – played by director Sabat herself – has to settle for filming light entertainment shows. She is fighting for the custody of her three‑year‑old son and trying to simultaneously rebuild her life after her unfaithful husband. When the TV station’s respected journalist Qodrat (Anwar Hashimi) unexpectedly offers her a position on the news team, the two begin travelling through Kabul, documenting its crumbling everyday reality. Along the way, a cautious bond forms between them, prompting Naru to question her own cynicism. 

The film follows two journalists moving through a city on the brink of losing its freedom and the struggle of a woman caught between hope, fear, and the possibility of a new beginning.
