Espoo Ciné and the Oulu Music Video Festival (OMVF) are joining forces this year, with the final of the OMVF International Music Video Competition being screened as a satellite screening at Espoo Ciné. Audiences in both Oulu and Espoo will have the chance to enjoy some of the most striking, inventive and dazzling music videos from across Europe.
Espoo Ciné audiences will also get to take part in the competition and vote for their favourite to win the Audience Award!
“The tension between the real and the imagined runs through the European music video competition. Personal memories and experiences intertwine with the shadows of war, political resistance, queer joy and the noise of the digital age. Lingering long takes give way to breathless editing; painstakingly hand-built worlds meet digital imagery and typographic experiments. Classical storytelling exists alongside pure abstraction, while the avant-garde and popular culture feed into one another.”

For the first-ever OMVF European Music Video Competition, submissions were open to productions made in EU and EEA countries, as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Georgia and Ukraine. A total of 161 videos were submitted, of which 14 were selected for the competition programme.
The competition is part of the official programme of Oulu2026, European Capital of Culture.
