Don Quijote de Barcelona

Don Quijote de Barcelona

Don Quijote de Barcelona is the return to filmmaking for the acclaimed Finnish director Jarmo Lampela after a seven year hiatus.

The film begins when two homeless men are seeking an overnight shelter from the same corridor. They are a former academic Lluc and Olli, who is originally from Finland. Soon the men form a duo whose only objective is to survive everyday struggles on the streets of Barcelona. The film shows in episodic structure how the deep friendship between them takes shape throughout years.

We are not only being shown the ups and downs of mental disorders and addiction but also how affective art can be to people, whether it is paintings by Salvador Dalí, Finnish schlager music or Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes.
