Andriy is a Ukrainian space trucker whose job is to deliver nuclear waste from Earth to one of Jupiter’s moons, his only company on the trip being a robot called Maxim. One day, everything changes: Earth explodes, and Andriy believes he is the last human alive. That is, until he receives a voice message from a fellow survivor—Catherine, a French woman stationed on a distant space base. Longing for human contact, Andriy sets off on a journey to find her.
Pavlo Ostrikov’s debut feature handles ideas about the importance of human connection and the limitations of communication through digital devices in a relatable way. The lonely spacecraft become a metaphor for alienation in the digital age.
