Poison Poison

Poison

Tim Roth and Trine Dyrholm play an ex-couple, Lucas and Edith, who lost their son in an accident. Ten years after their separation, they meet in a graveyard where their child is buried, and converse through all the old emotions that have long remained unspoken. The rainy church grounds become a strange, purgatory-like liminal space, where time has stopped and only grief remains. Moving between sadness and joy, bitterness and genuine attempts at reconciliation, the film ends up asking whether it is possible to truly find peace after such a tragedy.

Based on a screenplay written by Dutch playwright Lot Vekemans from her play Gif, Poison is a pure actor-driven drama between two people. The film is the debut feature of Luxembourgian actress Désirée Nosbusch, who made her breakthrough in Eckhart Schmidt’s cult film The Fan (1982) and later collaborated with the Taviani brothers on Good Morning, Babylon (1987).
