Foreign guests: Mia Engberg ja Ella Glendining

Espoo Ciné presents Mia Engberg's essay film trilogy Belleville, consisting of three parts: the third installment, Hypermoon, premiered this year, while the earlier parts, Belleville Baby and Lucky One, premiered in 2013 and 2019 respectively. In the trilogy, Engberg explores various phenomena from an experiential standpoint, ranging from the effects of social segregation on confronting personal illness, as depicted in her latest work, Hypermoon. Engberg's works also delve into political participation, class perspectives, sexuality, feminist pornography, and love.

Belleville Baby narrates memories of youthful love, beginning with a call from Vincent, Mia's former youth love who has been released from prison. The film has been awarded the Guldbagge Award and was voted number 20 on the list of all-time best Swedish films in a survey by the Swedish magazine Film.

The middle part of the trilogy, Lucky One, tells the story of Vincent, a small-time criminal in Paris who becomes involved in human trafficking and unexpectedly becomes a father to his teenage daughter.
