Eismayer

Vice Lieutenant Eismayer is a feared and hated training officer amongst the recruits of the Austrian Military. This embodiment of a tough macho soldier is challenged when he encounters recruit Falak. With his vulnerability and braveness, unashamedly gay Falak causes Eismayer’s facade to chink.

Hiding his sexuality at home and at work has encapsulated Eismayer in a shell, the breaking of which scares him more than the thought of losing his loved ones or facing a serious illness. Will Eismayer be able to listen to his heart or will he stay entombed in his armor of fear?

Austrian director David Wagner’s first feature film Eismayer was awarded top prize in the Venice International Film Critics’ Week in 2022. This ruggedly beautiful film is inspired by a true story.
