Eden

Ulla Heikkilä’s film tells the story of a confirmation camp, for the first time in the Finnish cinema. The film is a Jussi Award nominee for the best film of 2020. With sincere authenticity, Eden depicts young people balancing between confidence and uncertainty in the middle of growing pains and the great questions of life.

A single week at the camp is filled with expectations, maybe some crushes, new friendships, irritations and questioning one’s faith, even growing up. The perspectives of the three main characters – smart and doubtful Aliisa, know-it-all Jenna, and shy dreamer Panu – take the viewer back to their own confirmation and Prometheus camp memories. The skilful young cast and the delicate music of Babel create an authentic summer camp experience that is a pleasure to dive into.
