Girl Gang

Girl Gang is an honest and addictive peek into the lives of teenage girls, which today is tinged with fairy tales created by social media. What do the fairytale Instagram photos and YouTube videos look like to girls, and on the other hand, what is the reality behind them like?

The heart of the documentary is social media influencer Leoobalys, a 14-year-old Leonie from Berlin who is admired and loved by thousands of followers. One of the followers is above the others: 13-year-old Melanie follows her idol's posts so closely that sometimes the fandom even hurts. That is why it is wonderful – downright trance-like – if you get to meet your idol, but it would not be possible without the machinery swirling around the influencer, which in turn involves sacrifices... Can the magic of a fairy tale disappear?
