Gondola
Screenings
In a green, idyllic mountain valley of southwest Georgia, trips to the neighboring village are made in little orange carriages of a cable car. Iva starts working there as an operator, meeting her colleague Nino every day halfway along the track, when the carriages going up and down pass each other. In turns, moves are being made on a chess board at the end of the track. Little by little, a wordless flirtation develops between the young women, who try to delight each other in surprising ways. This annoys the boss, but there is love in the air.
German Veit Helmer makes inventive comedies with a touch of fairy tale magic. Gondola is realized without any dialogue, relying on the power of images, music and sound. This poetic love story is a guaranteed feel-good choice and a charming journey to the beautiful Georgian landscapes.
