The Your Ciné idea competition, held for the third time and aimed at filmmakers at the beginning of their careers, will culminate on the opening day of Espoo Ciné on 23 August.
At the end of May, the finalists of the Your Ciné idea competition gathered in Tapiola to refine their film and TV series ideas together with mentors. Now, the late summer fruits of the workshop weekend can be admired on Friday, 23 August at the pitching competition held at the Kupla event space, where the finalists will present their ideas to the audience and the jury.
The part of the event, which is open to the public, begins at 1:00 PM with a panel discussion on diversity in the audiovisual productions. What does diversity mean today? Who and what is portrayed through the frame of diversity?How and why should the field be enriched by creators from different backgrounds? Discussing the topic will be film director and actor Kaisa El Ramly, actor, dancer, and performance artist Geoffrey Erista, director-producer Mazdak Nassir and Voima magazine’s journalist Iida Simes. The discussion will be moderated by filmmaker Zagros Manuchar.
After the panel discussion, from 2:45 PM to 4:00 PM, the competitors will present their ideas to the jury and the audience. The final winner of the competition will be announced at 5:00 PM and will be awarded at the Espoo Ciné Opening Screening.
