Crip Ciné Art Exhibition

Espoo Ciné's Crip Ciné program highlights disabled individuals and creators in cinema. The program explores themes of disability, encouraging new perspectives on the subject. Through Crip Ciné, Espoo Ciné aims to present a more diverse portrayal and bring a wide range of stories from Europe and around the world to the big screen. Simultaneously, Crip Ciné promotes encounters that transcend prejudices and fears.

Inspired by this initiative, we wanted to showcase disabled artists and invited Aino Laiho and Olga Green, both known from the Making space for artistry exhibition, to participate in this exhibition.

Aino Laiho and Olga Green are deaf sign language users who embarked on their artistic journey together last year. Unlike their previous exhibitions in Tornio, Rauma, and Joensuu, this exhibition features a selection of both old and new, unseen works that focus on themes closely related to the artists, such as feminism, femininity, and sexuality. Their primary tool is the felt-tip pen, but acrylic paintings are also included. Green's works are humorous, insightful, and sympathetic, while Laiho's works explore shapes and contours in an adventurous manner.
