Documentarist Christine Angot travels to Strasbourg, where she both met her father for the first time at the age of 13 and was raped by him. Angot interviews close ones who witnessed the crime but looked away, thereby enabling the crime to continue for years. The filmmaker's close ones—her father's new wife, even her own mother and her then-partner—as well as the viewer, are forced to confront the rotten absurdity of what happened. This spine-chilling and heart-wrenching documentary breaks down doors almost literally in its relentless pursuit of the taboo. Angot doesn't allow the viewer to look away for even a second, and watching this documentary you wouldn't even want to do so.
