The Ride Ahead

This documentary, created by a father-son duo, follows Samuel Habib, who uses a power wheelchair and lives with a rare GNAO1 genetic mutation, on his journey from parental care toward independent adulthood on his own terms. With the question ‘What will my life be like, and what challenges might I face?’ in mind, Habib travels across the United States, interviewing people with various disabilities. Discussions on sexuality, the formation of disability identity, starting a family, and ableism transform the young man's perspective on himself and challenge the viewer to rethink their views on disability.
