Un amor
Screenings
Natalia leaves her career as a translator to move to the village of La Escapa in Spain's dusty interior. In all its grandeur, the scorched soil of the Iberian mountains proves to be difficult ground to build a new life on. The surrounding community shuns the newcomer, even her new home crumbles at Natalia's fingertips: nothing and no one seems to want her close, except for a scar-faced rescue dog. The mountain landscape transforms into the setting for a life-altering passion when Natalia receives a peculiar proposition from her outcast neighbour.
Un amor explores the transformative power of desire within the framework of otherness. At the centre of the film's narrow aspect ratio are the outcasts: Natalia, suffering from rootlessness; her adopted stray dog; the reclusive neighbour; and really, the entire sun-scorched little village. Within these harsh beginnings lies not only a breathtaking depiction of insatiable passion but also a moving story of attachment to people, nature, and oneself.
