Screenings

Power of Love, the second feature film from the German director Jonas Rohlaender, brings a glowing portrayal of human relationships and the Finnish summer to the big screen. Finnish Saara (Saara Kotkaniemi) and German Robert (Nicola Perot) begin a powerplay to test the limits of their relationship. The atmospherically depicted archipelago with its cliffs, Midsummer celebrations and small shops serve as a soft background for the hard grips of this dance of dynamics. Power of Love comes close, deep, to the skin, to the biology. It hurts, struggles, and goes wild. It prances around the campfire like beast and prey, each afraid of who leads who – and who eventually catches up. The film's visuals caress while the main characters passion holds the viewer in the stranglehold of love.
