Safer Space Guidelines

Espoo Ciné's Safer Space Guidelines have been created to ensure that our events are as safe as possible for everyone. We encourage everyone to reflect on their own actions so that together we can build a more equitable and safer space for others as well.

We do not assume or discriminate. We respect everyone's right to self-determination. We do not make assumptions about gender, background, values, or ability. We do not comment on another person's appearance or characteristics.

We respect others' personal space and boundaries. We cannot know another's boundaries without asking about them. Therefore, we ask before touching, and we adjust our behavior based on the feedback we receive. We do not pressure others to use substances or offer alcohol to someone who is already intoxicated.

We listen and are open to learning. We are open to feedback and also provide constructive feedback ourselves. Making mistakes and asking questions are also allowed, and not everything needs to be known beforehand.

We make space. We strive to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the discussion. We aim to use language and vocabulary that is understandable to everyone.

We take responsibility. We take responsibility for our own words and actions. We strive to recognize our privileges and the power structures that benefit us. We apologize if our actions offend others.

We address harassment. If possible, we address the situation in a manner suitable for ourselves. We offer help and support to those in need. By intervening, we also set an example for others.

If you encounter harassment, please contact Espoo Ciné staff! You can also reach us afterwards via email at office@espoocine.fi or through the feedback form. Thank you for your cooperation! <3
